Lynne Millar is an oil painter working in California’s Central Valley. Drawing on a lifelong study of art history, she paints at the intersection of flowers and decorative arts. Her practice centers on close observation—capturing the quiet details of a petal’s edge, the shifting tones of ripe fruit, or the play of light across fabric. Through deliberate color, gesture, and texture, Lynne’s work reflects her way of understanding the beauty and complexity of the world.
In addition to her studio practice, Lynne is passionate about teaching. Alongside her teaching partner, Claire Tollstrup, she co-leads Sanctuary, a yearly travel-based oil painting workshop devoted to creativity, technique, and artistic renewal—held twice in San Miguel de Allende and planned next for Palm Springs in January 2026. She also teaches with We Heart Art, a Central Valley organization that brings arts education into the prison system, a role she finds deeply meaningful.

MEET LYNNE

I’m currently raising money for Doctors without Borders, by selling a painting daily on instagram (I post at 12pm pst). I donate $200 for every $1000 in daily painting sales — last year we together raised thousands of dollars for this amazing organization. Thank you so much for your support in this!
